Many of the homeowners are local shop and bar owners, surf teachers and artists.

Owner Claudia Bloom is the location representative for all the businesses and homes shown here. Her passion for the beach and surfing led her to her home from Manhattan after many years to The Rockaways, New York.

Her professional background in film and television – as an actress in LA, a casting director for films, theater and print, an acting coach, as well as a women’s magazine editor – all inspired the launch of Rock Locations.

Claudia combined her experience in production with her love for her community after quickly discovering the richness in its homes and businesses as well as its convenience to Manhattan and Brooklyn production companies. Rock Locations seemed to be a perfect fit for the area. She has expanded outside of The Rockaways to include a few locations in Manhattan, New Jersey, Long Island and on Cape Cod.

Since its launch in 2016, Rock Locations has grown rapidly to represent home and business owners for any type of production.

The Rockaways, the hip and urban beach community in Queens, New York is convenient to Manhattan’s downtown and midtown neighborhoods as well as production in the outer boroughs. Its proximity to JFK airport also makes it an easy journey for any production company flying into the area. It’s a rich environment for media production projects.

The Rockaways neighborhood is home to such businesses as a wine and tapas bar, surf shops, hip clothing boutiques, yoga studios, and a funky home vintage shop that all set themselves apart from the typical city style. The homes as well – a grand inn on the bay, cool houseboats,  surfers’ pads, beach block houses and more – also exude that same sense of creativity.
